Academic Content Standards
The three main literacies a student should comprehend are as follows: computer and multimedia literacy, information literacy, and technological literacy. Computer and multimedia literacy ensures that a student is able to use technology tools to aid in their learning. Information literacy is the understanding of how to acquire and use electronic information. Technological literacy is the application of technology from the classroom to the real world. The three main criterions expected of teachers as they integrate technology in the curriculum are strategies that integrate technology tools and applications, digital resources, and the design process. Lastly, five topics I may be teaching my students are as follows: how to evaluate sources online to determine if they are viable to use in a research paper, create a Facebook profile, Instagram, Twitter, or other social media page for a historical character, how to use online journals to find resources for writing essays, how to utilize a message board to post and reply to other student’s posts regarding opinions of current events, and write a paper describing how one innovation in technology from the past 300 years has made a historical impact.
